Bali

We have been wanting to go on a girls trip for the longest time.  However as we have been in separate countries for so long, we didn’t get a chance to until now.  For those of you who follow us on instagram, you would know that we have recently visited Bali and we would like to share with you our adventure.

Where We Went:  Seminyak

When We Went:  June 2017

Where We Stayed: Alila Seminyak

Location 5 stars Fantastic location, right next to the beach and there are plenty of shops and restaurants close by and right next to Potato Head Beach Club.
Cleanliness 5 stars Very Clean as far as we can see.
Hotel Decor 4 stars Simple and modern.
Room Décor 5 stars Clean, modern and bright
Bathroom 4 stars Modern, clean, big and bright.  Great for couples but not so great for sharing with friends as the toilet door and shower door is the same sliding door.
Pool 4.5 stars There are two pools in the hotel, one quieter and smaller which is enclosed by the hotel walls.  The other is a larger infinity pool near the beach.
Spa 3.5 stars The massages and decor is actually quite nice.  The only downfall was that they didn’t inform us that they only had one female masseuse working that evening. So if you have a preference, call up beforehand and check.
Staff 3.5 stars Very friendly but very slow service.
Value for Money 3.5 stars It is a nice hotel, but for my next visit to Bali I would like to try somewhere else.

Must try restaurants:

Traditional Balinese – Warung de Koi – Overall – 4 stars

Location   3.5 stars Close to Tirta Empul Temple, a good restaurant to go to after visiting the temple.

Quality of food  4 stars
Value for Money  5 stars

Why We Love It

A relaxing lunch where you are dining above water with beautiful Koi fish below.  The decor is beautiful and the traditional Indonesian food is just what you need after a morning of sightseeing. Makes us happy to know that they are feeding the homeless doggies in the near by neighbourhood too (sadly stray dogs are a big problem in Bali).

Healthy Smoothie Bowls – Nalu Bowl – Overall – 4 stars

We went to Potato Head for a night cap after dinner.  It was a nice chilled out evening by the beach surrounded by great decor and interesting drinks.

Place worth visiting:

As our trip to Bali was short and sweet, we didn’t get to visit all of Bali’s attractions, but here are a few places we have been to and think is worth visiting.

Ubud Tanah Lot

Tirta Empul Temple

Satria Coffee Plantation

Ubud Shopping

Instagramable spots:

La Laguna Bali

Why We Love It

This place is an Instagram heaven, the gypsy inspired decor is exotic and colourful.  Every spot we went was an Instagram moment.  The restaurant is right by the beach, so it is very relaxing and laid-back.  Would I ever come back to La Laguna again?  Definitely.

Nook Bali

Why We Love It

Perfect for a nice cup of coffee surrounded by rice paddies.  Even though it is not the most impressive rice paddy in Bali, this is a good alternative if you don’t want to venture out too far and away from the crowd.

Useful tips:

Hire a private tour guide, it is well worth it.  Dewa is the tour guide we hired and he is excellent.

Must bring items:

Bikinis

Sun Hats

Sun Block

Mosquito repellant
