Bali After Dark

A few weekends ago, I was blessed to go on a very (by very I mean very) spontaneous trip with a bunch of new friends that I met here in Singapore.

My spontaneity is something that Chris has always applaud me for; however as a big sis, would warn to always proceed with caution. Now, let rewind to the start of it all.

August 9th Singapore’s National Day, Ice Cream Sundays’ event at The National Museum.

I got invited to the event simply because I started a conversation with a girl at the Italian restaurant Luka here in Singapore. Turns out her boyfriend is the cofounder of Ice Cream Sundays.

It’s now 6:30pm, I show up not knowing anyone but Julia,  I spoke to a few people, had a few drinks and now I am sitting in a chair having my face glittered by the beautiful Natasha of the Cahaya Collective.

A few days later I am now out having dinner with Natasha and meeting her group of friends. They were all so lovely and immediately started telling me about their upcoming trip to Bali.

2 months go by, 2 weekends before the actual Bali trip, one night before the formula 1 weekend, they booked my ticket to Bali.

Now we are here in Seminyak Bali, Coco Villa Seminyak. Life is definitely filled with surprises, both good and bad. – ‘There’s no lemon so sour that you can’t make something resembling lemonade’ – This is Us.

So we fly in Friday and fly out Monday

Here’s what we did

Finns Beach Club

Jalan Pantai Berawa, Tibubeneng, Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Finns beach club is located in Canngu which is approximately 15 minutes away from the heart of Seminyak. It is situated by a beautiful beach known for surfer watching. We actually stayed till past sunset and managed to watch 3 different acts before heading back to the Villa to freshen up.

You can buy entry per person or they have options for bean bags or sunbeds.

What I enjoyed

  • Drinks were delicious
  • Location is beautiful
  • Decor is very nice
  • Service was great – staffs were great at clearing sand off of the sunbeds!
  • Sunset watching is perfect
  • Night time entertainment was very impressive

What I didn’t enjoy so much

  • Food was mediocre
  • Bathroom was freezing 😛

La Sacilia

Jl. Laksamana no. 151, Oberoi, Seminyak, Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Located in Seminyak, two levels . Restaurant by day and bar/club by night.

What I enjoyed

  • Alternative crowd for a more people watching experience
  • Decor is quite interesting
  • Centrally located

What I didn’t enjoy so much

  • Coupon drink buying system was rather inconvenient
  • Slightly too crowded
  • Personally not my type of music that night

La Favela

Jalan Laksamana Oboroi No.177X, Seminyak, Kuta, Seminyak, Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80561, Indonesia

Located in Seminyak, famous for their jungle themed decor which I personally found very Pirates of the Caribbean, a very fun and laid back atmosphere. My favourite part is the free Photo Booth! A must if you find yourself at La Farvela.

What I enjoyed

  • Tropical jungle vibe
  • Free Photo Booth
  • Hip Hop, Pop, R & B mainstream music
  • Good dancing crowd
  • Lots of dance floor space
  • 3 separate bars which helped with wait time when purchasing drinks
  • Good amount of indoor and outdoor space

What I didn’t enjoy so much

  • Wasn’t much I personally didn’t like about it! We were here two nights and had a great time both nights. 🙂

W Hotel – Bottomless Brunch

Jl. Petitenget, Kerobokan, Seminyak, ID-BA 80361, Indonesia

w hotel

What I enjoyed

  • A good seafood selection
  • Sashimi and sushi bar
  • Great atmosphere
  • Great for birthday celebration, large group of staff will sing for you
  • Bottomless cocktails

What I didn’t enjoy so much

  • Not the widest selection of cooked food
  • A tiny big on the expensive end
  • No local Indonesian or Balinese food, which is what I was craving when in Bali

Woo Bar

Jl. Petitenget, Kerobokan, Seminyak, ID-BA 80361, Indonesia

woo bar

A great place to go with a big group as not many people there likes to dance. There were a good mix of age and even families.

What I enjoyed

  • Big nicely decorated cozy outdoor space
  • Great spot for sunset watching
  • Easy access to the beach
  • Large pool
  • Dj was amazing, a very good mix of everything that caters to all
  • A good mix of age, even had families there

What I didn’t enjoy so much

  • Drinks were a little on the pricey side

Da Maria

Jl. Petitenget No.170, Kerobokan Kelod, Kuta Utara, Kota Denpasar, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Grecian inspired decor that takes you out of Bali for a moment, very spacious and serves food until late. The night we were there, the DJ was playing EDM, not entirely sure if that’s a constant thing. I would recommend checking website and Facebook page to be sure.

What I enjoyed

  • Good Edm music
  • Very spacious
  • Staff very friendly and attentive

What I didn’t enjoy so much

  • Ambience a bit brighter than most clubs
  • Not much of a crowd

Overall I would say my favourite time was at the W Hotel Woo bar and La Farvela.

Woo Bar’s music was amazing and loved by everyone, it was truly a good mix for all types of people and ages. The experience was definitely enhanced by being with a good group of people. La Farvella’s was a completely different experience, it was late in the night, the crowd was excited and fun. With a lot of great classic and singalong tunes, it was the place to dance all night with friends.

So that’s it for my Bali party weekend! Definitely a fun yet very different experience to my first time in Bali with Chris.

Hope you enjoyed my mini review!

with love and quirks,

Iris xxx
